Comments Regarding My Music

"Edward's music is that Folk based theme that I remembered being introduced to listening to Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Jesse Winchester, Dan Fogelberg, John Prine, The Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul & Mary and The Mamas and Papas in my youth."

On Music

To me, music is an artform extraordinaire. Like a painting, music has depth, texture, rhythm, tempo, darkness and light; brought to life as a soundscape.

On Songwriting

For me, the songwriting process has been decades long, beginning way back in 1967, as a high school student on Vancouver Island. I figured that if Bob Dylan could play guitar, harmonica, and write songs, then so could I. I'm still playing music and writing songs after all these years, and in 2025, I've been working on a new collection.

On Performance

I've been 'performing' music since my childhood; first, as a boy soprano in a church choir in Burlington, Ontario, and continuing into my teen years. As a high school student in the late 1960s on Vancouver Island, I began playing at local coffee houses, concert venues, and had original songs playing on the local radio station, in Courtenay. This continued during the 1970s, with coffeehouse and restaurant venues in Vancouver, and throughout British Columbia.

After moving to Toronto in the 1980s, I had the pleasure of playing the Burlington Music Festival,  Hamilton's Festival of Friends,  and reprised a performance for the 2023 festival. I've done several concert series  with global and local musicians in Toronto and Waterloo Region.

In addition to being a public school educator in the 1990s until my recent retirement from teaching at a college, I facilitated music workshops, songwriting seminars, and taught a course in traditional folk music at my private studios, Tweed Folk Music, in Waterloo and Blue Northern Music Studios in Kitchener.

On My Music

To date, I've released 5 albums of music, and have begun the arduous task of reformatting early tapes from the 1980s.

Still writing, recording and making music here in 2025--I'm not done yet!

Please take the time to have a listen to my music, and hope to see you at a performance venue sometime in the near future.

Best regards,

Edward
